The requirements of
China Adoption


According to China adoption laws and regulations, both single person (male or female) and married couples can adopt babies from China. However, if a male person without spouse adopts a female child, the age difference between the adopter and the adoptee shall be no less than 40 years. That is to say, a single man under the age of 40 is not eligible to adopt a female baby. There is no such special limits for a single female to adopt babies.

To adopt a healthy baby from China, the adoptive parents ( or single parent ) should be above the age of 35 and childless, otherwise, they should adopt a baby with "special needs", namely, a baby with minor disease.

The following documents are required:

1. an application letter to China Adoption Center signed by adoptive parents ( or single parent ).
2. a home study by social workers from an agency;
3. birth certificates;
4. marriage status certificate;
5. a financial statements;
6. employment certificate from employers;
7. medical reports from doctors;
8. police clearance from police station;
9. adoption approval from immigration bureau.

All these documents should be notarized and authenticated.
