Re: Christopher Hitchens
Dear Stuart:
I understand that the travels of Dr. Kissinger and the funeral of a
friend, Mrs. Graham, have caused a delay in your response to my July
17, 2001 letter. Nevertheless, Mr. Hitchens expects an expeditious
apology or retraction. The material that I have sent you is
straightforward and unambiguous in demonstrating the falsity of the
statement by Dr. Kissinger concerning Mr. Hitchens' view of the existence
of the Holocaust.
I reiterate what I have previously written - the pervasive difficulty of
the truth to catch up to the lie and, therefore, the need for expeditious
correction. We were pleased to note that Dr. Kissinger has kept to his
commitment not to repeat the defamatory statement in his recent appearance
in Los Angeles. Mr. Hitchens believes it is now appropriate for him to
make known to the public Dr. Kissinger's undertaking in this regard. My
client reserves all of his rights and continues to require the apology
mentioned in my July 17th letter.
Sincerely,
Johathan W. Lubell
