Q1) What is a bootleg?
A1) In general, a recording that is not authorized by the band and/or the
record company.
Bootlegs can be live performances, demos or studio outtakes.
Q2) What is the Bootleg Guide?
A2) The Bootleg Guide is a listing of all known Counting Crows bootlegs.
The purpose of
the Guide is to notify fans and collectors of identical shows circulating
under different
names, dates, venues, etc.
Q3) Does the Bootleg Guide list all shows played?
A3) No. The Bootleg Guide is not a setlist archive. If a show is listed on
the Bootleg
Guide, it means that a bootleg of that show exists (although finding that show may
prove
to be difficult).
Q4) How is the Bootleg Guide organized?
A4) The Bootleg Guide is split into 4 parts:
Q5) Do you know where I can find bootlegs?
A5) Due to recent crackdowns on bootleg recordings, I'm reluctant to post
specific or
general information on this.
Q6) Does Counting Crows allow taping?
A6) Currently, no. See the following
Wall of Sound interview, for Adam's opinions on bootlegs. Also available here.
Q7) Do you know where I can find {insert specific show here}?
A7) I do not keep track of who sends me what info. If you are interested in
locating a
specific show, my suggestion is to ask around on the Counting Crows-L
mailing list,
or on the following USENET newsgroups:
alt.music.bootlegs;
alt.music.counting-crows.
Q8) I can't find anyone who has any of the 1992 shows for trade. Do you
know where I can
find copies of these shows?
A8) Most people who own copies of the 1992 shows are either friends of the
band or know a
friend of the band. Adam has asked that these shows are not to circulate
any further.
Most of the people are respecting Adam's request, so finding someone who is
trading these
shows will be fairly difficult. Update:These shows have recently
been tree'd on the fan run mailing list and are making their way around.
Q9) Do you own copies of all the shows listed on the Bootleg Guide?
A9) No. Most of the info on the Guide is sent to me by other tapers,
traders and collectors.
I do not keep track of who sends me what info.
Q10) Is there a known recorded version of the song 'August and Everything
After'?
A10) Yes, but the copies are not in circulation. Adam's dad and Bonnie
Simmons (who helped
Counting Crows get signed) are known to have copies.
Q11) Does the band still intend to release an album of cover songs, such as
Wiseblood, Jumpin' Jesus etc?
Q11) According to an interview from Wall of Sound, the plan is to record the cover album after the third studio album.

for the complete interview.
Q12) Do you trade?
A12) Yes, send me your trade list to the address above.
I am NOT selling bootlegs, so please don't email me about purchasing bootlegs from me.
Also, I do not do 2:1 trades. Click here to
