You just have to keep trying (unfortunately)--
this is one of the puzzles that really rewards
persistence. Just remember:

The solution to the puzzle involves timing your
click on the hole in the clouds with the contact
when the limbs touch the rods. First, just click
on the hole to produce the lightening. Watch
what happens and try to get a feel for the speed
of the bolts as the lightening strikes all five
rods.

Then, work on the limb that touches Rod #1.
Click on the the rod and hold; follow this up with
another test to see if your lightening bolt hits
Rod #1 at precisely the time when the limb touches
it, producing a tone. You may have to make many
of these "tests" until you get it right. Don't
get too frustrated with this testing process -
it's valuable practice for getting the feel of the
puzzle.

Once you have Rod #1 set, work on the remaining
four rods, one at a time, following around in a
CLOCKWISE direction. (You may find that some of
the other rods are already "synchronized" and
produce a tone along with Rod #1. If so, make
no adjustments--move clockwise along to the next
rod and follow the below instructions.)
Work on Rod #2 until you get a tone from 1 and 2;
then work on 3 until you have 1, 2, and 3
producing a tone; and so on until you have all five.

If you play with this puzzle enough, it becomes
a simple matter to come back to it and solve it
successfully in a very short time.
