As you may have found, "simple" solutions were
not contemplated by the designers of Obsidian.
To solve the Crossover Switch puzzle, you must
understand what is happening as you flip (click on)the switches:
*As you have observed, there are sixteen switches
which comprise this puzzle. When you click on a
switch, two things will occur. EITHER:
--The switch will turn green. If so, you have
made a correct choice, and can continue attempting
to solve the puzzle;
OR
--You will observe a "recycle" movement, during
which "camouflage" moves to cover eight of the
sixteen switches. This will occur if you have made
an incorrect choice - i.e., if you have selected a
switch which was covered by camouflage during the
previous recycle movement.
*This recycling movement is the key to the puzzle.
Your task is to click on the eight switches which
did NOT have the "camouflage" move onto them
during the previous recycle movement. A switch
will turn green ONLY if it was not covered by
camouflage. An incorrect selection will trigger
the recycle movement.
Many people have said that the best way to solve
this puzzle is to get a friend and each of you
watch half of the puzzle as the camouflage moves.
This makes it easier to focus on the recycle
action. Another suggestion was to sit as far back
from the monitor as possible to widen your field
of vision.
Good luck!!!
