I assume you've solved the waves puzzle, as this
is when the pattern for the slider solution will
be revealed. If not, surf on over to Ryan's
Obsidian page for the waves solution at:

One thing to note about the slider puzzle is that
you can move the pieces vertically as well as
horizontally. This may not be obvious, but
realizing this helped a lot the first time I
worked the puzzle.
This puzzle is one that you have to play with for
awhile until you match the pattern on the side
of the levitated ocean cube. The way I usually
solve it is to position the very top and very
bottom pieces FIRST (these are the pieces with
the small "bubble" projection that goes up on
the top piece, and down on the bottom piece).
Once I have these pieces in the approximate
place (to the left on top; to the right
on the bottom), then I work on the placing the
similar pieces in the center of the puzzle--
from the smaller to the larger projections
pointing up and down. As the puzzle name
suggests, you have to "slide" the pieces
horizontally and vertically until you get a
duplicate of the pattern.
Since the slider "resets" each time you turn
away from it, I have also made a sketch of the
solution that I refer to while solving the puzzle.
It IS possible to complete the Oil Balcony without
completing the slider--but I DON'T recommend it.
The win sequence is too neat to miss, plus it
gives you a hint for the location where you have
to drill for oil to solve the final Oil Balcony
puzzle.
Good luck!
