: I have for two weeks tried to get the waves lined up to raise the island. There is no seam, they are even, the music is together, what else is there? I have done every thing by the book, hints, and spoilers. Is there something wrong with my program and can I down load a part to get it to work. I am using XP with compatability wizzered runing in 16 colors, and the bigist screen I can get. Help.....

This puzzle has been referred to alternatively
by gamers as the "Evil Waves" and the Waves of
Insanity." It is one of the trickier puzzles
in Obsidian. See a picture and suggestions for
solution at Ryan's Obsidian Page at:

Also, below are my standard suggestions for
solution.

Your objective is to make the waves roll evenly
spaced and seamlessly, once you have all nine
sections properly aligned.

Notice that when your cursor is on any of the
nine sections, the puzzle "freezes." Use this to
your advantage to fine tune the sections. Trial
and error is the key. When you think you have
the sections lined up, move the cursor away and
watch the results. Give it a little time - the
correct solution may take up to 5 seconds to
produce results - don't make adjustments too
quickly.

I always solve this puzzle by working from back
to front, getting the back three sections aligned-
then moving to the middle row; then the front.
You really have to examine the waves VERY
carefully to see the seams or edges between
segments and waves. The music helps, as the
correct solution produces a monotonous rhythmic
musical scheme.

When you hit on the correct solution, a VERY
dramatic event will occur (there is no question
as to whether you have solved the puzzle). As I
mentioned earlier, make sure you WAIT for about
5 seconds or so after making any adjustments to
the waves for the change(s) to "kick in." This
was my problem the first time I worked the
puzzle. I probably wasted 3-4 hours "fiddling"
with it, when I undoubtedly had it solved much
earlier but made adjustments before letting the
game program react.

Good luck...and let us know how it turned out.
