"Friar Laurence changes his mind"
I smell another "motif" coming on... yes, friends, you should notice how
the Friar first says one thing, and then suddenly changes his mind. He actually
has done this throughout the play. For example, he said he would NOT marry
the young couple, then he changed his mind. Many characters do this in this
play. The Prince first decreed that anyone fighting would die, then he "changed
his mind" and softened the punishment. There are many, many more examples
yet to come, from now until the end of the play, which will hopefully be
soon.
