Mercutio's Queen Mab speech describes a sort of a Renaissance version of the sandman. This tiny creature, it is supposed, visits you every night, and determines your dreams. If Queen Mab likes you, you might have pleasant dreams. If not, you might have nightmares, or even worse. The speech begins much like a Walt Disney cartoon, and it gradually descends into some of the most raw, and powerful language in all of Shakespeare. It also goes on about three minutes too long...
