Romeo realizes who he has killed
Romeo stabs Paris, and then he hears Paris' "last wish." Romeo agrees to
drag the body down into the tomb, and it is only then that he decides to
look and see who this person was: "Let me peruse this face: Mercutio's kinsman,
noble County Paris!" (Lines 74-75). This sequence causes us to wonder whether
Romeo would have fought, had he known who this intruder was. Before he stabbed
Paris, Romeo described himself as a madman. He does not, however, call himself
crazy...
